MY PHILOSOPHY
Gentle, patient-led care
I am not here to fix you, because I do not believe you are broken ~ healing is not about fixing what is broken, but remembering what is whole.
In a world that constantly asks you to move faster, push harder, and ignore the subtle whispers of your own body, my practice is built on a radical premise: pause.
Here, there is nothing to achieve, nothing to perform, and nowhere else to be. Whether we are untangling deep-seated tension, soothing a frayed and overwhelmed system, or simply creating a sanctuary for deep rest, my aim is to guide your energy back to its natural, unburdened flow.
MY APPROACH & LINEAGE
I strive to honour the deep, historical roots of my training while making those ancient concepts relevant and approachable to a modern patient.
1. CLASSICAL CHINESE MEDICINE
My practice is rooted in Classical Chinese Medicine, heavily shaped by my ongoing study of the Daoist traditions passed down by 88th-generation Daoist priest and teacher, Jeffrey Yuen.
WHAT THIS LINEAGE MEANS FOR YOU AS A PATIENT
What sets Classical Chinese Medicine apart is its dedication to highly individualised care. There are no standardised, one-size-fits-all protocols. When you come in for an acupuncture treatment, we look beyond the "branch" (how discomfort shows up on the surface) to investigate the "root" (the deeper pattern of imbalance beneath it). Through precise, personalised care, we don't just look at isolated areas of tension - we work with the whole person, inviting your body’s innate capacity for renewal, thus leading to deeper, more sustainable wellness.
While modern acupuncture often focuses primarily on the surface, this classical tradition provides the lens to look much deeper. Discomfort is not viewed as an enemy to be silenced, but as your body's intelligent way of communicating that something has fallen out of alignment. My goal is to listen to that communication, honour your unique constitution, and help you return to a state of natural ease and internal coherence - soothing not just the physical body, but the mind and spirit as well.
A BROADER RANGE OF MERIDIANS
Standard modern acupuncture primarily uses the 12 main meridian pathways (primary channels). As a classical practitioner, I also draw upon a much deeper, more complex network of complementary channels: each reflecting a different layer of how we experience ourselves and the world, and how we hold onto those experiences:
The Sinew Channels: The most superficial pathways, reflecting how we move through the world and how everyday physical strain, posture, and muscular tension are held in the body's surface tissues.
The Luo-Connecting Channels: These pathways are seen as the bridge between the body and the heart-mind (Shen) - reflecting how unprocessed emotions, prolonged stress, and life’s heavier moments can settle into our physical tissues.
The Divergent Channels: These deeper pathways illustrate how the body adapts over time, holding long-standing patterns of tension in standby when we have been running on empty for too long.
The Eight Extraordinary Vessels: Viewed in classical texts as the deepest reservoirs of our constitutional energy - tapped into during profound life transitions, periods of deep exhaustion, or when seeking a fundamental sense of grounding and renewal.
2. 5 ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE
Through the deeply intuitive lens of Five Element Acupuncture, I look beyond the body’s distress signals to the emotional and spiritual roots of your well-being. We each hold the cycles of nature within us: the visionary upward momentum of spring (Wood), the radiant warmth and joy of summer (Fire), the grounded, nourishing centre of the harvest (Earth), the quiet, clarifying release of autumn (Metal), and the deep, resting potential of winter (Water).
My work is to listen to the subtle language of your body to discover where your elemental energy has fallen out of rhythm. With the gentle, precise placement of needles, we do not force the body into submission; rather, we offer it a profound reminder of its own original harmony.
